Back when telecommunications was in its infancy, the speed at which the message traveled from its point of origination to its destination was limited by the ability of the drummer. The distance of each message was limited by how far the sound of the beating drum could be heard, or by the size of the fire if smoke signaling was used.
Eventually, around the 1790’s telecommunications became more sophisticated with the introduction of the semaphore. Essentially, the semaphore used visual signals to convey information. Later in the 1830’s, the first electrical telecommunication systems began to appear, and with that, the distance and speed at which messages were transmitted increased tremendously.
Just as telecommunications increased on sophistication and speed over the year, so also has the amount of information regarding the telecommunications increased constantly. To help you gain a better grasp of the different changes that are occurring in the telecommunications industry daily, I have decided to include a Telecommunications Article section on this site.
I will be updating this articles section regularly, so I invite you to bookmark this site for future reference, and I invite you to subscribe to this site’s RSS feed, so that you can get updated information as I post it here.
